"Girded in chrome is a hundred-dimpled titan, an egg sac where rocket children ignite on their mother's back, explode into aether, and congeal again in the conflagrative consummation."

This is the ranged missile weapon carried by Chrome Pyramids.

It can be obtained by disarming them and is occasionally also found in the wild and in high level merchants' inventory.

Next to Neutron Flux, the Swarm rack is the most destructive weapon in Qud. Each attack fires a burst of 10 separate missiles, each one hitting for an 3d6 impact and then exploding in a big area for 6d6 of explosion damage that can't be resisted by AV or DV. Heavy weapon skill "Sweep" would essentially increase the attack to 50 missile at once.

Usage Edit

The swarm rack is equipped on both of the missile weapon slot, your back, and both of your arm. You will also need to acquire lots of HE Missiles if you wish to even use it because unlike the chrome pyramid, you cannot regenerate the missiles.

The enormous weight of 1500 makes it nearly impossible to wield but there are ways, see the table below

Modifiers Unmodded Slender Willowy Both Mods
Without Skill 1500 750 375 187
Weight% 100% 50% 25% 12.5%
Strapped Shoulders 750 375 187 93
Weight% (skill) 50% 25% 12.5% 6.25%
With exploit 750 187 93 23
Weight% (exploit) 50% 12.5% 6.25% ~0.016%

The heavy weapon skill strapping shoulders will further to half. The stack is also cumulative to each mods you have, meaning with all two mod, the weight will be halved three times up to a staggering 23 unit but only if you mod it after the purchase of the skill.

  • This is due to bug that causes modification to sequentially recalculate its weight alongside with strapped shoulder skills.

Another way to carry a swarm rack is to go through the enormous effort of building or aquiring 150 of the rare Small Spheres of Negative Weight. 150 spheres compensate for exactly the weight of the swarm rack. This not only requires Tinkering Level 3 but also a huge amount of rare resources, one of which is metacrystal which is mostly obtained by disassembling other swarm racks so this method is significantly inefficient.

Alternatively you can just disassemble it for the rare tinkering resources '0678'.
