Prone is a condition applied to creatures when they fall to the ground after being knocked off their feet. Prone creatures must spend a turn standing up before they are able to take any actions. Additionally, prone creatures have a lower DV, making them easier to hit. Having the Multiple Legs mutation or wearing Magnetized Boots will reduce your chance of being knocked down.
When a player is knocked prone in a pool of liqud, they will become submerged in it, which, depending on the liquid, may have a variety of unpleasant side effects. For example, becoming prone in Black Ooze can cause the player to contract Glotrot.
The Shield Slam skill knocks a target prone. Using the Swipe skill while in defensive stance will make you attempt to trip nearby targets.
