"Some clever tinker has fitted a spring-loaded brace around each of these boots so that they thrust the wearer upward whenever he or she lifts a foot off the ground."
While they only grant 1 AV, these boots are possibly the best general-purpose footwear in the game: they provide a considerable bonus to movespeed (three times the bonus granted by the Sandals of the River-Wives!) and dramatically increase the wearer's sprinting speed. This extreme mobility upgrade allows the wearer to outrun almost any enemy with ease, making the boots very useful for both escape and pursuit.
